The String Instrument

Italian HarpsichordThe harpsichord I use is a model of a 16th century Italian harpsichord that has one keyboard (manual) with four and a half octaves. The instrument is made of solid cedar wood with brass strings. It has two sets of strings that, when engaged, provide a rich sound. One may play on one set of strings for a light touch and soft sound. This harpsichord is similar to the one in the photo here.

If you eventually want to buy a harpsichord, I could guide you to a source. I could also teach you how tune strings once you have bought an electronic tuner and a tuning tool. I could advise you on those purchases.
